Minister Eric Jones

JG. How did you become a Minister?
Minister Eric: question1
JG. answer1
Minister Eric: Being a minister is not an easy task. You always have someone looking up to you or at you and people tend to put you on a pedestal, so when you make mistakes they tend to be magnified. Plus you have to give an account to God about everything you have preached, taught and said.
JG. When did you first recognize that you wanted to write plays?
Minister Eric: At the age of 18, I was on my lunch break at work when I began to write my first play. That was the day I wrote myself a letter and said that I would pursue writing stage plays.
JG. Did you do plays before finding Christ?
Minister Eric: Yes, I did, I've always been interested in plays in the beginning it started off as just acting, ever since I was a child. My first job at the age of 14 was in an acting workshop in the DC summer works program in 1994.
JG. How long have you been writing and directing Gospel stage plays?
Minister Eric: I have been writing gospel stage plays now for the last 6 years I would write skits for Sunday morning service.
JG. How do you tackle adult issues within your plays while remaining within boundaries as a Christian?
Minister Eric: The bible is where I check my "boundaries," it's full of graphic stories that are told tastefully. I try to mimic them in the same manner. I will push the envelope all the way to the edge without going over it. I try to guide the audience's imagination.

JG. Tell us about your latest project.
Minister Eric: "Just When You Least Expect It" is my latest project with my younger sister. It's about a Pastor who gets caught up with one of the minister in his church, this love affair does not go unnoticed by the other members in the church especially his wife. Along with some other crazy characters that will make you laugh and cry. Rev Strattle's attitude is like many people today- "I've got time, God knows my heart" but there's a twist that happens at midnight and it happens "Just When You Least Expect It" You have to come see it or buy the DVD to see what happens...
JG. What is the ultimate goal of your production company?
Minister Eric: The ultimate goal of Daddy 5 productions is to continue to produce many more gospel stage plays; not just me but utilizing other talented writers. Also, to open up a youth center of Arts where children in the inner city can express themselves through acting, singing, writing, drawing and any other expressive arts.
